The Property Survey is a document prepared by a professional surveyor that shows your structure dimensions and other improvements, boundary lines, utility locations, parking, setbacks, and other related information on your property. Building Departments require a current property survey (produced in the last six months) for all new construction, additions, substantial improvements to a structure, or any outside work such as fence, shed, driveway, or swimming pool. This survey will ensure that all building codes, zoning setbacks and regulations are being met.

In addition, if the work that is being done involves removing or adding trees, the city will also require a tree survey. This specialized survey is prepared by a Professional Surveyor or Landscape Architect and it shows all trees and details on the property such as tree height and diameter, species name, age, overall health, and recommendations. Certain building departments will require that trees that are in close proximity and will remain during construction to have tree protection barriers around them.
